About Me

Guilhermo Gontijo

Brazilian tattoo artist in Alicante, Spain

For years I thought my job was to tattoo images. In time I understood that my real work was to listen, interpret and tell stories. Through the Imago Vitae® Method I turn what you have lived into a composition shaped for your body.

I do not work from repeated designs or adapt a catalogue image. Every composition starts from nothing and sets out to join meaning, beauty, anatomy and craft in a piece that makes sense today and keeps making sense as the years pass.

Craft is placed at the service of the story, never the reverse.

The Process

How a project is born

Every project begins long before the needle: it begins in a conversation, in the memories and in the symbols that make a person who they are.

  1. 01

    Meeting and listening

We sit down, have a coffee and talk with no cost and no commitment, or start by video call. I listen for the story and symbols that must stay.

  2. 02

    Research and concept

I gather artistic, historical, cultural and personal references that help build an honest narrative, rather than repeating a catalogue image. Nothing enters by chance.

  3. 03

    Design and anatomy

I create the composition from nothing and test scale, placement and movement, so the piece belongs to your body rather than merely sitting on it.

  4. 04

    Session and follow-up

I execute the tattoo with technical care, explain the aftercare and follow the healing. Where it applies, we review the result at around 30 days.

Specialities

Craft in the service of the story

I don't pick a technique because it is fashionable, and I don't force an idea to fit a style. I read the meaning, the anatomy, the scale and the skin, then build the visual solution that serves the project best.

Frequently Asked

What people usually ask me

Where does Guilhermo Gontijo work?

I tattoo at Requiem Tattoo, in Plaza de la Viña, Alicante, Spain. I work by appointment only, so each client gets the time their project needs.

I'm visiting Alicante. Can I get tattooed?

Yes, if you write ahead. The schedule is limited and every project needs creation time before the session, so the earlier you write, the better. We start the conversation by video call and, when your travel dates allow it, the session is arranged during your stay in Alicante.

Do you only do Fine Line?

No. I work in Fine Line, micro detail, micro realism, realism, black and grey, Fine Art, symbolic minimalism, large compositions and cover-ups. The technique follows the story, the body and the scale.

Does the project meeting cost anything?

No. We can sit down at the studio, have a coffee and talk calmly about your idea at no cost and with no commitment. If you live far away, that first conversation can also happen by video call.

How do I book?

First you send your idea through the form. Then I review the project and we arrange a conversation. Once the scope, the date and the investment are clear, the booking is confirmed with a deposit that comes off the final figure.

Can I bring a design that is already made?

You can bring photographs and references to explain what you like. I do not copy other artists' tattoos and I do not repeat pieces made for other clients. We use your references to understand the language, not as a design to reproduce.

How much does a tattoo cost?

It depends on complexity, size, body area, design time and the number of sessions. Once I understand the idea, I give you a clear proposal before any booking.
