From tattooer to storyteller
Brazilian tattoo artist in Alicante, Spain
I am Guilhermo Gontijo, a Brazilian artist, tattooing since 2015 and based in Alicante, Spain. I specialise in custom pieces that bring together Fine Art, realism, micro detail and symbolism to tell stories on skin.
A career built on detail
I started tattooing in 2015. From the beginning, precision and detail sat at the centre of my work, but craft was never enough on its own. I learned that a well-executed line can impress; a piece with meaning, though, can stay with a person for a lifetime.
My professional story began in Brazil and today continues in Alicante. I have worked with people from many countries, developed projects for clients who travel specifically to be tattooed by me, and shared my experience through courses, mentoring and conference talks. That path did not change the essence of the work; it made it deeper.
I am a husband, a father and a man of faith. That is why I understand the weight of bonds, of memory, and of what we want to leave behind. I would rather sit down, have a coffee and listen without hurry before talking about a final image: it is not about convincing anyone to get tattooed, but about finding out whether we can build a piece together that stands for their story.

My Own Method
The Imago Vitae® Method
The image of a life, turned into a piece for the skin.
The Imago Vitae® Method grew out of years of noticing that the best projects did not begin with a visual reference, but with a conversation. I organised that process into a method of my own, in six movements.
The result is not a pile of decorative symbols. Every element has a reason to exist and connects to the anatomy, to your story and to an artistic, cultural or historical repertoire. Nothing enters the project by chance.

Listen
Understand your moment, your story and the reason you want it on your skin.

Identify
Recognise the people, feelings, values, conflicts and changes that form the core of the project.

Research
Explore personal, artistic, historical, cultural, religious or natural references that can express that core honestly.

Encode
Give every element a narrative job. Nothing is added just to fill a space.
- 05
Compose
Arrange symbols, volumes, rhythms, empty space and contrast around the anatomy and the scale of the project.

Make lasting
Execute the piece with the right technique, guide the aftercare and follow the result once it has healed.
The Process
How a project is born
From the first coffee to healed skin, four stages that are never skipped because each one holds up the next.

Meeting and listening
We sit down, have a coffee and talk calmly about your idea, at no cost and with no commitment. If you are far away, we start by video call.
- 02
Research and concept
I gather artistic, historical, cultural and personal references that help build an honest narrative.
- 03
Design and anatomy
I create the composition from nothing and test scale, placement and movement so the piece belongs to your body.
- 04
Session and follow-up
I execute the tattoo with technical care, explain the aftercare and follow the healing. Where it applies, we review the result at around 30 days.
