Every piece in this gallery began in a conversation and was made for one person. The images show my technique, the way I compose and the levels of detail I work at, but no piece will be repeated.

How to read this gallery
Look first at the scale and the body area, not at the drawing. The same image at three centimetres and at twelve is not the same piece: the gap between lines changes, how much information fits changes, and how it will age changes. That is why some portraits work on a forearm and would not work on a wrist.
Then look at the density. In fine line work the empty space does as much as the stroke: it is what keeps the piece legible once the skin settles. In large compositions what holds the work together is not each separate element, but the rhythm between them and how they follow the movement of the body.
